Thrown in red clay, the surface of these tumbler cups reveals a slight texture created to encourage depth and variation in the glaze. The moody blue glaze varies with each firing, an effect that is harder to achieve in pieces fired in an electric kiln. The color can be deeper blue to black with flecks of grey or can veer more towards a lighter blue/purple. It can also appear olive in spots.
Each tumbler is unique. The images give a good idea of the one you’ll receive. The making of these stoneware tumblers makes them all unique. This is why colours, dimensions and motives can vary from one to another. See it as the pledge of a work done by hand.
