Jacques Benoît, has over twenty years of experience and passion. In his studio in Montreal Jacques wheels utilitarian objects to pure forms of which glazes are an integral part of the objects.
Jacques Benoit works porcelain and its glazes are composed of clay from Kamouraska and cherry wood ash and maple. The clay is collected in Kamouraska at low tide on the river flats. This dried clay, is crushed and sieved then mixed with wood ash. The colors thus obtained are always attractive and natural.
To use a French Butter Dish, pack butter into lid, then put water into the base so that it is about 1/3 full (use salted water for unsalted or low-salt butter). When the inverted lid is on, a seal is created that keeps oxygen away from the butter. Change the water every day during heat waves, otherwise every two or three days. If you go away for a few days, put it in the refrigerator. It is imperative that the butter is completely immersed in water. Nice video here. Dishwasher and microwave safe.
